How do I collect meal choices?
Turn on the Menu in Manage → Features, add your dishes on the Menu tab, and check the RSVP form.
The Menu needs an event that takes RSVPs here. Open Manage → Features and press Turn on on the Menu card, under Food. Then open the Menu tab to add the dishes. Once the Menu is on, its card also sits under The RSVP in Design → Details, beside the form it adds to.
Adding dishes
The Menu tab is a list of your dishes under a count of them. Press Add a dish, name it, give it an emoji if you like, and press Done, which keeps it; nothing reaches the RSVP form until you do. (In an app version before 1.4, press Save dish.) To add several on the website, press Save and add another at the foot of a new dish: it keeps that dish and opens a blank one.
Press a dish to open it. Beside the name and emoji it has a short name for where the full name won't fit (the guest list, seating, nametags), a description, dietary tags, a limit on how many can choose it, and Offer this dish, which holds one back without removing it. Change any of them and press Done. Drag a dish by its grip to change the order (in the app, from version 1.3); the arrows in its panel move it too.
A menu holds up to 24 dishes, and a dish can be limited to at most 1,000 portions. Remove is at the foot of a dish's panel and asks for a second press; on a dish some guests have already chosen, it says how many lose their pick. To stop offering it without touching those guests, switch off Offer this dish instead.
The menu's rules are in Menu settings, the mark at the top of the tab.
What guests are asked
Two rules in the Menu sheet decide it:
- Guests choose one is on for a new event: each guest picks a dish as they answer. Off, every dish is served to everyone: the form lists them under On the menu and asks nobody to choose.
- Ask about allergies is on for a new event.
When some guests join later, they are not asked for a dish unless Later guests pick a dish too is on in the Some guests join later sheet.
A child's meal choices start with None, which is selected until someone picks a dish; adults are asked to choose. None counts toward no dish in your meal counts.
Walk through the RSVP preview in Design → Details to make sure the choices are understandable.
As answers arrive
Each dish's row on the Menu tab shows how many guests chose it. Review those counts and individual answers before sharing them with your caterer. If you change the dishes after guests have answered, review existing answers rather than assuming guests have chosen again. Turning the Menu off hides it from guests and keeps every dish and every choice.
